(The government of the Planetary Union assures you that the mention of alien abduction is nothing more than a poor attempt at humor. There have not been, nor will their ever be alien abductions on any of the Planetary Union's colonies.)

Basic History

In the year 2010 the Colonial Bureau of the Planetary Union gave the go ahead to begin the colonization of the planet designated Chiron Beta Prime. This was a relatively insignificant event. The Colonial Bureau had opened 753 planets for colonization up to that point, but there were not yet colonies on any of them. After all, who in their right mind would choose to abandon the comforts and ease of life in the system for the horror awaiting on an unexplored, uncolonised planet!

Daniel Montgomery, was the exception to the rule. He noticed the distinct lack of space and opportunity on the system planets and decided to grab a nice piece of colonial property before the rush began. With the approval of the Colonial Bureau, he settled on Chiron Beta Prime.

With that push, the Colonial Bureau began looking into how to get other settlers to join Daniel. Luckily for them the Planetary Union had begun to realize that the system planets were becoming overcrowded at an alarming rate. They instituted a system-wide lottery. Citizens were randomly chosen to become colonists and were then sent to one of the opened planetary colonies. Colonization had finally begun...whether the people liked it, or not!
